Linguistics General Minor Course Requirements


Required Coursework (18 Credit Hours):



LING 106 Introductory Linguistics or LING107, Honors

(Goal 1, #1: Crit Think; Goal 3: SocSci; Goal 4, #2: Culture)



LING 110 Language and Mind or LING 111, Honors

(Goal 1, #1: Crit Think; Goal 3: SocSci; Goal 4, #1: Diversity)



LING 305 Phonetics I (usually offered in Fall semester only)



LING 312 Phonology I (usually offered in Spring only; prerequisite is 305)



LING 325 Syntax I (usually offered in Fall semester only)



LING Elective: One 3-hour junior/senior level (300+) Linguistics course chosen by the student in consultation with their Linguistics advisor

*Students can graduate with only one of the two Linguistics minors - either the General Linguistics minor or the Second Language Acquisition minor.  (CLAS policy does NOT allow more than one course overlap between minors.)
