Location: David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium (1101 Mississippi St, Lawrence, KS 66045)

*Seating is limited and amenities will be reduced due to the ongoing construction at the stadium. Graduates are asked to limit attendance to six guests per graduate to keep the event comfortable for everyone.

Accessibility

David Booth Memorial Stadium is a fully accessible facility with open limited-mobility and wheelchair seating that can be claimed by guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to ongoing construction at Memorial Stadium, accessible seating will be limited in the stands and on the field, and only one elevator will be operational. Alternate viewing locations at the Kansas Memorial Union in the Ballroom on the 5th floor and the Jayhawk Welcome Center in the Berkeley Room, both of which meet all ADA requirements will be available for guests who prefer not to enter the stadium. There will also be a live stream of the event that friends, family, and loved ones can watch from their personal devices. For information about accessible parking, transit, campus traversal, and hospitality, see the relevant section on the "Attend" page.

Faculty Hooder

You must contact the faculty member you wish to perform your hooding to verify they are available.

Regalia Rental

Regalia is required for participation in the doctoral hooding ceremony. If you do not have your own regalia (cap, gown, tassel, and hood), you should arrange for purchase of the needed items.  Doctoral candidates from the Lawrence campus may purchase their items at the KU Bookstore in the Kansas Union or Jostens KU storefront.

Military and Veterans Honor Cords

The Veterans Honor Cord is a red, white, and blue cord worn on top of regalia. To find out more information about eligibility, where/when to pick up cord, please visit this site.

Parking and Map

From 1 p.m. Friday to noon on Monday, parking in many lots and all garages is free. As well, any guest with a state-issued hangtag or license plate can use one of KU's disability parking stalls, which are available across campus. To accommodate limited mobility guests without such permits, accessible drop-off areas and parking are available on the east side of Memorial Stadium.

A complimentary shuttle service begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and ends at 1:30 p.m. For wheelchair accessibility, request a paratransit vehicle from any bus driver.

Note: Vehicles are not permitted on Memorial Drive from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. the Sunday of Commencement.

Photography

Picture taking will be permitted but should not impair the view of others. Professional photographers will photograph every graduate at the ceremony as they are hooded.  Proofs will be made available following the event(s).

Diplomas

If you’ve applied for graduation, the Office of the University Registrar automatically places an order for your original (first) diploma for you to pick up in person at the KU Visitor Center (bring a picture ID). You may request your diploma be mailed to you instead by placing a diploma delivery request in Enroll & Pay. Information on diplomas can be found on the Registar's Diploma website.
